The age old question has been how do we pray?  The disciples asked Jesus this question. He responded with teaching what we now call, "The Lord's Prayer". Jesus prayed this prayer in his spoken language, Aramaic. It is beautiful and powerful to listen to this prayer as it is sung or chanted. With just a little time and effort you can pray the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic, too.  We've included some YouTube videos below; each video with the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic. Each of the videos are different, and each one is powerful in it's own way.  As you take time to meditate and to pray for your pastor, please enjoy listening and praying the Lord's Prayer in Aramaic.  May God bless you as listen and pray.

Jesus taught the importance of praying for the Gospel Carriers in John 16:6-26. He prayed on behalf of those that the Father had given to him and then those who would come to Him by the gospel that they carried. If prayer for the believers, for the Gospel Carriers was important enough that it was one of the very last things that Jesus did, before he was taken into custody by the Roman soldiers, then it stands to reason that it's important that we continue to do so today.

Prayers do not have to be lofty and religious. They do not have to be proscribed and in any sort of pattern or theological words. Our prayers must be out of a place of faith, hope, and trust.

My mother called one morning to share some news with me and to tell me that she had gone to the flea market today. Flea markets are a big thing here in the south, and here in my neck of the woods, Thursdays-Sundays are the big days for "flea marketing".

Everything can be bought at the flea market. When I was in Israel I learned that they have flea markets too, just called by a different name---the shouk. You can buy anything at the flea market from fresh home grown produce to a side of beef to clothing to furniture. The most important thing about it though is that it's a form of free commerce and it's communal.

I would like to share a true story with you, my mom has a bit of a hard time getting around, primarily due to degenerative bone disease and also due to asthma. But, she still tries to go out and get exercise.

The one thing that my mom always prays when she goes to the flea market, and most anywhere else that has a large parking lot is, "Lord, show your favor on us today with a good parking space. If there is someone who needs it more, then let them have it, but Lord, if not then reserve a space for us." Most always there is a space next to the entrance. And, it has not failed yet that when she goes to the flea market there is always a space there.

Well, today was no different. Mom hasn't been to the flea market recently due to the cold winter weather. So, Mom was feeling a little intimidated at the thought of all the walking that she would need to do at the flea market. She sent up her usual prayer for parking. This is the result, and I'll try to tell it to you just as it was to me.

Mom: "I pulled up into the parking area and Chris (my nephew)said, "Grandma, don't pull way up in there next to the entrance because there won't be a parking space and you won't be able to get out."

I pulled on up in there, and there was a parking space, but just as I was pulling up a van pulled into the space. I thought, 'Well, they must be the one's that needed it more than me. So, I was going to turn around and go back out, but Chris (that's my nephew--SF) pointed out that there was a van next to the entrance pulling out. I pulled up there and was waiting when a car came up fast from the other direction and they were going to try to jump in ahead of me from the other side. But, that van pulled up there and stopped so that I could get in! I just thought it was like God working traffic control!'

Now, to some of you my mom's prayer may seem small and simple, but I tell you that her faith is not! Therefore, God answers this simple prayer of this dear lady.

I encourage you to pray constantly for your pastor and his or her family. Your prayers may be simple and for things that might seem simple to you, but it may make all the difference in the world to your pastor!
